To state the obvious: there is no respawn. You must refresh the page every time you die. However, it definitely seems like the main problem was scope; you tried to put too much into your first game, and didn't get it done in the right order. Obviously, looking at my submission, I am not innocent of this either; it really is easy to fall into that trap. Overall, I would say that with some post-jam fixing, this could be a pretty good game!
Wasn't really able to play the game in browser, either had problems right clicking (immediately dying to spike pit) or using WASD to move around. There's no full screen button for some reason so I couldn't solve it that way. You might want to include a downloadable option for people to play (someone gave us this feedback in this jam which helped us reach more people)
